As a board,
staff, or volunteer of a nonprofit organization, you have questions in your
daily jobs, training needs, consulting needs, or other requests. Calling a
Texas Nonprofit Network member before you start on a new project can save your
organization time and money. The Texas Nonprofit Network members
work each day with nonprofit organizations of all types and budget sizes. The
clients of the current providers range from small start-up organizations to
large established organizations. Network members have extensive experience and
skills to bring to your organization. Our academic members
offer credit and noncredit courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
One of the
challenges of the nonprofit field is to "not reinvent the wheel." So
whether you are writing Personnel Policies, dealing with a fundraising
challenge, or establishing your nonprofit accounting system, call a Network
member first. Their knowledge,
libraries, training
courses, consulting
services, and publications
can be the answer to your "call for help."
Below are Network
members who provide help in these areas.
Information
& Referral:
The Network members provide
help to questions over the phone and in person by qualified staff.
Libraries:
There are fifteen Cooperating Collections libraries in Texas affiliated with
the Foundation Center in New York. These libraries should be your first
stop for grants information, reviewing 990 PF information, and books on
nonprofit formation, boards, fundraising, marketing, and evaluation
materials. All Cooperating Collections libraries are free and open to the
public; please check the operating hours and locations of each library.
Workshops:
Attend a public workshop and learn from the instructor and your nonprofit
colleagues. You will learn new and targeted information that you
can apply on your job. The Network members offer ongoing public workshops
throughout the state and the calendar lists upcoming workshops. If there
are topics you need and do not see on the calendar, please contact a current
provider or the Network office.
Credit & Noncredit
Courses:
The academic members of the Network offer credit and noncredit
courses for undergraduate and graduate students. Their programs focus
on nonprofit management and leadership, philanthropy, and volunteerism.
Several members offer the American Humanics program for undergraduate
students.
Consulting
Services:
Whether you need a facilitator for a board or staff retreat, assistance with a
review of your bylaws, or development of personnel policies, call your local
center to discuss available consulting services. Each Network provider has
a fee schedule often based on the budget size of the organization and the work
to be completed.
Several providers
offer consulting services outside their immediate area and at night or on
weekends. Informal consulting by phone is often provided free of charge if the
question can be quickly resolved.
Publications:
Several Network members publish useful tools for their nonprofit clients.
Grant directories, a human resources manual, a board manual on legal
responsibilities, and a directory of Valley nonprofit organizations are
available for your use. Click the website of the listed Network member
for their publications.
Other Services:
Network members offer a variety of other services such as a classified
newsletter for jobs, Collaborative Program, a Loan Fund, and community
convener. The members of the Network can serve as a linking point or
meeting place for nonprofit issues.

Partnership
Programs: Some Network providers offer Partnership Programs for
the benefit of their clients. Ask local providers whether a Partnership
Program exists. If so, join your local provider and your organization
will enjoy discounts on programs and services and checkout privileges from
library collections.
